DiGiorno ingredients: what's banned overseas?
Parent company: Nestlé USA
About DiGiorno
DiGiorno is the best-selling frozen pizza brand in the US, produced by Nestlé and available at virtually every grocery chain, mass retailer, and club store. DiGiorno offers rising crust, crispy pan, stuffed crust, and various topping varieties. It consistently ranks as the number one frozen pizza brand by retail sales in the US market.
Common concerns with DiGiorno products
DiGiorno pizzas contain BHT as a preservative in the crust component, sodium nitrite in pepperoni and sausage toppings (a probable carcinogen in processed meats per WHO/IARC), and some varieties have used partially hydrogenated soybean oil (a source of trans fats). Independent researchers confirmed BHT presence in multiple DiGiorno varieties as of 2026. The pepperoni and sausage toppings carry the same sodium nitrite concerns as processed deli meats.
