Food ingredients banned in California (2027)
California bans 10 food additives that remain legal in the rest of the US, under California Food Safety Act (AB 418) + AB 2316. The ban takes effect January 2027. Manufacturers must reformulate products sold in California or pull them from shelves.

Background
California has passed the most aggressive US food-additive bans. AB 418 (signed Oct 2023, in effect Jan 2027) bans 4 additives in all food sold in CA. AB 2316 (signed Sept 2024) bans 7 dyes from food served in CA public schools starting 2027.
