Kroger Brand ingredients: what's banned overseas?

Parent company: The Kroger Co.

About Kroger Brand

Kroger Brand is the mainstream private-label line of The Kroger Co., the largest supermarket chain in the US with over 2,700 stores under banners including Kroger, Fred Meyer, King Soopers, Ralphs, and Mariano's. The line covers thousands of everyday food and beverage SKUs at value pricing. Kroger maintains a publicly available 'Free-From' list of 100+ ingredients it excludes from its private-label products.

Common concerns with Kroger Brand products

Kroger's Free-From list excludes BHA, BHT, TBHQ, bromated flour, azodicarbonamide, artificial colors, and artificial flavors from its store-brand items — positioning it well above many national brands. However, Kroger Brand products across categories may still contain high-fructose corn syrup in select lines, sodium benzoate, modified food starch, and high sodium levels. Label reading remains important across the full range.
