Oikos ingredients: what's banned overseas?
Parent company: Danone North America
About Oikos
Oikos is a Greek yogurt sub-brand of Dannon (Danone North America), sold at grocery chains and mass retailers across the US. The brand offers protein-forward triple zero, pro, and regular Greek yogurt varieties. Oikos Triple Zero is particularly popular as a high-protein, zero-added-sugar option marketed to fitness-conscious consumers.
Common concerns with Oikos products
Oikos Triple Zero contains stevia leaf extract and acesulfame-K as sweeteners — acesulfame-K has been linked to disruption of gut microbiome in some studies and is flagged by CSPI as insufficiently studied. Some Oikos regular and light varieties use sucralose. The flavored standard Oikos yogurts contain modified food starch, natural flavors, and in some seasonal varieties artificial colors. Overall Oikos has moderate concerns compared to Dannon Light & Fit.
