SunChips ingredients: what's banned overseas?
Parent company: Frito-Lay (PepsiCo)
About SunChips
SunChips are whole grain multigrain snack chips produced by Frito-Lay (a PepsiCo subsidiary), sold at grocery chains and mass retailers across the US since 1991. They are marketed as a more wholesome alternative to regular potato chips, made with whole corn, wheat, oat, and rice. SunChips are one of Frito-Lay's better-known better-for-you snack lines.
Common concerns with SunChips products
SunChips Original and most flavors are relatively clean compared to many Frito-Lay products — no artificial dyes or artificial flavors in the core line. However, some flavored varieties contain natural flavors with undisclosed sourcing, maltodextrin, and high sodium. The ingredient list is simpler than most flavored chips but still includes processed seed oils. Generally a cleaner option within the salty snack category.
