Yoplait ingredients: what's banned overseas?
Parent company: General Mills
About Yoplait
Yoplait is one of the best-selling yogurt brands in the US, produced by General Mills and sold at virtually every grocery chain and mass retailer. The brand spans original, light, Greek, Go-Gurt (kids), and Oui by Yoplait varieties. It is one of the most widely distributed dairy brands in the US market.
Common concerns with Yoplait products
Yoplait has historically used artificial dyes including Blue 1 in blueberry patch flavors (confirmed by FDA's 2016 color additive exposure study) and some flavored varieties. General Mills has been removing artificial dyes from the Yoplait lineup under pressure. Some light and low-fat Yoplait varieties use aspartame or sucralose as sweeteners, and carrageenan has appeared as a thickener in some products. The kids' Go-Gurt tubes have gone dye-free in recent years.
